Ms. B’s Thoughts

Well I haven’t been writing a blog…but I have stuck to my goal of reading more blogs after NECC. I still feel as though I’m just on the surface, but it is a start. It is nice to keep up with the thoughts and travels of the people who are deeply involved…through reading their blogs. On Monday I met briefly with Dr. Suzanne Standerford…the director of the Upper Peninsula Writing Project and one of my dearest friends…and filled her in just a tiny bit about my trip to NECC and my thoughts…I have so many ideas…somedays I feel as though I’m bursting. I hope that the purchase of the lab at Lakeview will spur some teachers to really get involved in some great projects…and the purchase of new machines for our teachers will inspire them to at least hook up to some projectors and start moving…learning…and grooving!

I ran in to Beth Holmgren at the Y the other day…we had a great chat about the use of technology in our building. It was nice to open up the conversation with her. Her business lab uses PC’s and the rest of the building is Mac…so it always seems like we are in two different places…yet she is starting some great things this fall and who knows…maybe in a few years we will be running both platforms in her classes on iMacs…wouldn’t that be a great experience for our students!

On a personal note, I had a great visit with some old friends last night. It is fun to catch up… crazy to think about how much time has passed since high school. Lots of jokes about our computer class…and how much learning COBAL has helped us in our use of technology today!

We are off to the kid’s parade today! Gotta love Negaunee!
